The Joy of the Shed in East Reservoir
Since first appearing in Australia in the 1990s, Men’s Sheds have virtually exploded onto the Australian mainstream. Guided by the philosophy that ‘men don’t talk face to face, they talk shoulder to shoulder’, the movement has seen a plethora of isolated, retired and simply interested men get together to work on common projects, often for the benefit of a local community. Dylan Bird spent some time at the East Reservoir Men’s Shed, and witnessed first-hand the types of activities the members get up to on a daily basis.
